HTML Emails Truncated

HTML Emails Truncated

Postby sahklh » Tue Dec 04, 2007 3:05 am

I have many HTML based emails that are getting cutoff. The same email sent to an exchange server comes through just fine. I have already enabled the "Convert Bare LF's into CRLF Pairs During Mail TRansfers" and this did not change the behavior of the truncated emails. This happens wither the email is from an exchange server to ability or if the email is sent direct to Ability. Please let me know what I can look at.

We have found the if we look at the email in "Text" and not HTML we see all of the data. But in HTML it is getting Truncated.
We are on 2.60

Plain text and HTML parts of the email are separate so it's understandable that the much simpler text section is less likely to have truncation problems. If you could send me the source view of the email from within WebMail to chris@code-crafters.com I'll have a look for any obvious problems that could be causing this. Please also indicate where the truncation in the HTML occurs.

The e-mail is truncated in e-mail clients (Outlook) as well as Web Mail. Testing has shown that the truncation occurs at 997 / 998 characters.

We have been able point this issue to a specific piece of software that was not sending CRLF within every 1000 characters. Once the code was updated. All seems to work ok.

It is obvious that this HTML is badly formed. Most tags should be on a separate line for clarity with any good HTML composer. But at least there should be a proper CRLF line break every 1000 characters (998 characters plus 2 for the CR LF). Glad to see that you have sorted this out.
