MX records

MX records

Postby wxPhil » Sat Jan 05, 2008 11:51 am

OK, so we send out a few hundred emails to clients each morning, and most are fine - many go to deifferent recipients on one domain - say 10 to domainA, 20 to domainB, 5 to domainC, etc..

Thing is, while most are OK, those to a cuople of the domains are getting bounced back with a mesage "Unable to obtain any valid MX records for the domain."

What are we supposed to do about this? Our domain/IP hasn't changed - just the mail server software, (which is now AMS)....

regards

The error indicates that the destination domain has no MX records which are DNS records used to detail what IPs can be used to deliver mail to that domain (i.e. its mail servers). If you are using independent mode you can enable the option "Try Domain If No MX Found" to try to send to the domain's A record (main) IP if no MX records are specified. This will often deliver mails correctly for domains with no MX records.
