Switching to SSL

Switching to SSL

Postby cearnshaw » Tue Apr 14, 2009 4:44 pm

I would like to start using SSL on an existing server. If I create a certificate with AMS and select "Explicit SSL" will existing clients still be able to log-in unsecured? As I understand it the choice to use SSL or not is then chosen by the settings in the client's e-mail software, is that correct?

How does this work with web mail? Is there anything that the client needs to do differently if we enable SSL?

Thanks,

Cam

if you dont tick the "require secure login" in the group settings the user can still log in as normal.

once you have selected your SSL port (such as the standard 443) the client just connects to webmail on that port. e.g. https://webmail.yourserver.com

Hope this helps.
