How to automatically turn greylist rejections into blocks

How to automatically turn greylist rejections into blocks

Postby JoshKorn » Sun Nov 01, 2009 4:06 pm

Looking at my logs, I've noticed that most incoming traffic attempts to send mail to bogus mailboxes in my domain.

Although this mail is blocked by the Greylist filter, what I'd like to do is automatically block any server that does this (i.e. instead of the server sifting through bogus addresses time after time, I want it to automatically put the server name and ip on a black list and completely block it from that point on).

Does Ability have the ... er ... ability to do this?

Thanks
Josh

Presently the server has no automatic way to achieve this but I have passed this along as a suggestion for a future upgrade. In the meantime, it can do something similar with anti-hammering, except the blocking is only a temporary thing. Basically I would recommend enabling antihammering and then any SMTP connection that attempts to send mail to unknown receipients will be blocked for a set period after so many failed receipients.
