Mail noit received if any recipient is "bad"

Mail noit received if any recipient is "bad"

Postby wxPhil » Tue Jan 05, 2010 9:59 am

Hi,

If an email is received (by AMS) with multiple "To" addresses, and if any one of those addresses is non-existemt, then none of the other (good) recipients receive the email - it seems to just vanosh into the ether. Tests have shown that as soon as the invalid recipient address is removed, the mail is delivered normally. This surely can't be right...

best regards

You are correct that it shouldn't be right that that occurs. Normally and in almost every case of AMS, if a recipient is refused, the good recipients will still succeed in receiving the mail. The only reason why I could think this could occur is if a certain external mail client drop the connection if one of the recipients where failed (basically AMS isn't doing this, but the delivery agent). Of course you can test this your self by setting up a mail client that doesn't have relaying perimssions and sending a mail to a local and external address... the external one should fail and the internal one should receive the mail.
