PDF being identified as virus and stripped

PDF being identified as virus and stripped

Postby malcolmhum » Wed Jul 14, 2010 3:33 pm

Hi

We are using Goldmine 9 CRM and Quotewerks 4.5 to generate pdf quotes, when these hit our ability mail server (current version) running FProt the pdf is stripped showing as a virus.

I have for now stopped scanning outbound mail.

We do also send pdf invoices from sage and in one email of 14 invoices 2 were stripped as being virus's but the other 12 were ok.

Anyone any ideas?

I have now changed my antivirus to NOD32 and this does seem to have solved the issue.

Thanks for the update. It is quite common for some AV products to have false postives on certain file types. I suspect this is due to the additional danger than email presents for virus propogation and so AV products have lower tolerance to suspicious files.
