Spam Trap expiry time

Spam Trap expiry time

Postby MikeG » Wed Sep 19, 2007 10:38 am

Hi all.
The recently added "spam trap" facility is great, as it makes perfect sense to block any IP addresses that are attempting to send spam to a fictitious account.
However, is there any way to set an "expiry" time for the blocked IP addresses? Currently if the blocked IP address is a from a dynamic IP range, that address becomes blocked forever regardless of whether it is still being used to send spam or not.
In an ideal world, the spam trap database would record the date of the last time each IP address attempted to deliver mail into the trap, and have an option to automaticall "release" any blocked IP addresses if they have not sent any spam for 'x' days.
Is this already possible (and I'm just not looking in the right place), or is it one for the "wish-list" ?

This is a good idea for an optional SPAM Trap IP expiry time. New SPAM Trap triggers would reset the time to expire. I will add this to our list for future updates.
