We are aware of an unintended limitation on mail transfer speed within the software. This shouldn't be too slow but we will be fixing this problem and increasing the transfer such that no limitations beyond your network transfer limits should affect the mail transfer. This fix will be available with the release of Ability Mail Server due out hopefully by the end of this year.

I am sorry, but I can't live with 60 kbytes/per second until the end of the year. I'll change the software as it was not mentioned about any limitations.

The software is optimized to run over the Internet so LAN speeds of around 250Kbps are usually normal. 60Kbps is less than normal but this could be affected by antivirus software intercepting the mail or by computer / network performance.

If you email me at chris@code-crafters.com with your order number or email address used I'll be happy to refund your software.

I have a very similar configuration to yours and have had only one problem with pop3 download speeds. It turned out to be a Cable company problem and it took three days to convince them and for them to fix it. In that case it did affect all downloads not just mail. For some reason it was noticed more in mail downloads though.

My only other thought is to look at your IP configuration. When you get the mail are you using your local IP (one set on your nic) or your real world address (one used in your MX record). I assume also that you are using port forwarding in your router to get the mail traffic to your local machine. I have not tested it but using the local IP address for pop3/smtp might cause some confusion in some routers.
