The following mail failed to be received...

From: jsmith@ast-security.com
Subject: Updates for Fire Inspection List
Size: 4057 KB's

The mail was rejected because it exceeded the 'mail loop and infinite bounce=
protection' limit.

What could cause this?

Thank you,

There can be several causes of this, and it entirely depends on your setup. If you are using POP3 Retreivals at all then its possible one of the users of the mail does not exist locally and has resulted in the mail entering the outgoing mail queue. There is of course options on the domain settings and in the POP3 Retreival settings that can be enabled to detect and prevent this. The next possibility is that your users are split across multiple mail servers and so creating the possibility for hte mail to bounce back and forth between 2 or more of the servers. If it is neither of these problems then I would recommend you examine the logs to try and gain a better picture of what is going on. Of course if you would like to provide a better description of your mail server setup this may help also highlight any potential problem areas. If you want to keep any details of your setup private, you can of course switch this to mails and contact me on rob@code-crafters.com.
