Primary & Backup domain

Primary & Backup domain

Postby gan » Tue Dec 25, 2007 5:39 am

Dear Sir,

Suppose ability mail server is set as primary domain and the isp's mail server is set to secondary mail server, with priority of 5 for ability and 10 for isp.

If the computer housing ability fails for some reason, all the mails go to isp's mail system.

my question is, when the computer is back online, will ability mail server pickup mails from the isp's mail server once back to online ??????

pls advise.

rgds,

This depends of course on the service your ISP provides. Assuming they are configured to accept mail from your domain, then indeed the mail can be retrieved from their servers. Normally a backup mail system will automatically attempt to forward your mail onto the primary server when it is back online. However, if this option is not available, then you can use POP3 Retrievals in AMS. These can basically consistently attempt to download any stored mail at your ISP.
