Max connection per IP

Max connection per IP

General question. In setup under general / Security tab. There is a section called limits.
If I activate this option and set the limit to say 6, does this limit the number of active connections per IP at a time for outbound, inbound or all.

The reason I'm asking is that I have some situations where I can have multiple emails sent to the same list of email addresses within a few seconds.
The email addressee SMTP server is coming back with 'too many connections' errors.

Would setting this resolve the problem ?

The general option only controls incoming connections on the local services. However, you can restrict the number of outgoing mail connections within the outgoing mail service settings. This will of course effect all outgoing connections and so may not ideal, but this depends on the number of mails your mail system requires to send. I will make a recommendation on a per domain/IP basis of the maximum number of connections.
