Spam filter only certain domains

Spam filter only certain domains

Postby leonardo99 » Mon Oct 13, 2008 10:21 pm

we use Bayesian filter, and it works pretty well; the only problem is one of our customer doesn't get all the mail he was used to; is there possible to deactivate the spam filter for his domain and still use it for the other ones? should we create an event? how should it look like?

This should be possible using the white list of the SPAM filter. Basically add a white list entry "SMTP Recipient" and set it to "*@customersdomain.com". Any mail received by that domain should bypass all the SPAM filters.

thank you very much for your reply, but it didn't solve the problem;
in filters - spam filtering, now I have the following situation
- enable spam filtering: checked
- bypass spam filtering when allowed relaying access: checked
- enable white list: checked
- reverse lookup=*@domainname.com
but the mails to this domain are still controlled by our Bayesian filter, and if someone sends spam (we ought to say: if the filter think it's spam) the mail is not accepted;
it doesn't seem to look at the white list ... why that?
thanks for your help!

Using the Reverse lookup function in the SPAM whitelist will look at the incoming email and then perform a reverse lookup on the IP Address which will then find the hostname of that IP. Therefore any emails coming from a server who's reverse lookup is *@customerdomain.com will be allowed through.

As you cannot have an @ symbol in the reverse lookup for the IP Address, this entry in the whitelist will perform no function at all.

To fix this you need to:
1. Delete the whitelist entry you have already created.
2. Add a new whitelist entry and select the "SMTP Recipent Matches" and then include *@customerdomain.com. (you needed to follow rob's instructions to the letter!!!!!!)

This should then work.

I hope this helps

Ian.
