Auto delete mail in a folder other than deleted

Auto delete mail in a folder other than deleted

Postby sillyme » Wed Jun 25, 2008 4:59 am

In an attempt to get the spam flagged mail closer to the user so they check for wanted emails I had them placed into the deleted directory. I chose this because of the auto delete feature. What I learned was that when users retrieved their mail, the copy that is removed from the server ends up in the deleted folder. I was hoping that only mail deleted through the web interface ended up there.

Will the auto delete feature work if the 'save in deleted' box is not ticked?

Is there a way to create a mail account folder (spam) that has an auto delete feature?

Using the deleted folder for SPAM is not ideal since the auto-delete feature does only works if the save in deleted folder option is ticked.

The best thing to do is to use Bayesian filtering to delete the mail after learning if you want to delete these mails. This will work regardless of the folder it is stored in.

We are already planning to add a feature to auto-delete SPAM and other folders but I can't promise when this might be at the moment with many ongoing projects underway.
