Unable to initialise the ftp or ssl port

Unable to initialise the ftp or ssl port

Postby davidw » Thu Feb 28, 2008 7:34 am

The error goes on to say that "this is most likely to due to a port conflict".

I am running an HTTP server (Apache software), an ability mail server, and have just tonight downloaded and installed this ftp server. I have been running a Rhino Soft (Serv U) ftp server. I am behind a linksys router.

My static IP address is 208.180.105.69. My Router IP is 10.11.12.254, and the server address is 10.11.12.5. I have opened the ports "21" and "990" on the router, but I keep getting the same error. Any Ideas?

This error indicates that another FTP server is running on ports 21 (commands) and 990 (SSL commands) and only one application can bind to each IP / port pair. On your FTP server computer open a command prompt (Run: cmd) and type "telnet localhost 21". This will connect to whatever FTP server is running on port 21 and should give you a welcome message with the software's name so that you know which software to disable or uninstall.
