How do I check webmail?

Postby sfulwood » Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:02 pm

Hello to everyone. You'll probably be seeing quite a few of these noob questions from me. for the past ten years we have been running a Cobalt Qube 2 for our mail server. Our second one just died on Tuesday and AMS was suggested as a replacement. I am quite happy with how simple it was to set up and get running. But now I am exploring the various features.

So, my first question is, once I have my firewall properly configured to allow for webmail traffic how do I access webmail through my browser? Is the url simply the IP address of the box? or is there additional information that needs to be in the URL? I have tried to find the answer on the support pages and in the forum but haven't had any luck.

Thanks in advance,

Scott

If you are running on the default WebMail port of 8000 then you should access via http://yourmailserverdomain.com:8000. You can also access via the SSL port via https://yourmailserverdomain.com:8100. If you can, use the default HTTP port of 80 and then you can access via just http://yourmailserverdomain.com without the port specifier. You may have to disable IIS running on your computer to make port 80 and port 25 (SMTP) available though. Access this via Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> IIS.
