File Count Limit in FTP Server?

I have a folder in my ftp site that has 30,000 images in it. When using ftp, it limits it at exactly 19,997 files and 1.2GB. I looked everywhere for a setting and cannot find one. Additionally, I tested from IE, Firefox and FileZilla, all with the identical limitation

There is a limit built into Windows as per the maximum number of files allowed in a folder. It used to be 10,000 on older versions but may be 20,000 on your version of Windows. The reason its 3 short of this round number is probably due to some hidden and system files that are present in the folder. There is no limit within our FTP server software for this.

There are actually 30,000 files in the folder, not 20,000. It is a windows 2003 server if that helps. Sorry for the misleading subject by the way. It was in my autofill history apparently. What I meant to say is, File Count Limit in FTP Server?

The same answer applies regardless of the actual limit it is still a limit imposed by Windows and not something you can avoid. The solution is simply to split the images into mutiple folders with less images in each than 30,000.

I dont understand ur rationale? I have an app i wrote to iterate the folder and present the files back in a list box, and I get all 30000+ images? According to Microsoft, the limitation on an NTFS partition for # of files in a folder is Maximum number of files in a single folder: 4,294,967,295

I am obviously FAR less than that?

There are no limitations built into the software as per how many files you can store in a single folder. Therefore, if this isn't a Windows limit on the number of files allowed in a single folder then I can only assume that you may have reached the Max Account Size limit set in the Account and associated Group settings.
