AMS and Average CPU Usage

AMS and Average CPU Usage

Postby robwaite » Fri Oct 23, 2009 11:45 am

What is the average CPU usage that others are experiencing? I have recently noticed that AMS is averaging around 30% of the CPU. Is this normal? We're only running the server for about 10 users.

Thanks

When the mail server is idle, the CPU should only be between 0% and 5% activity (sitting generally at 0%). However, with spikes of activity this can of course cause the CPU to leap to 100% very breifly while it performs virus scans etc. But on average server with a few active connections, usually it should still be below 10%. This basically means 30% could mean you have a few connections / mails being processed and could be quite normal for your system.
