304 Error

304 Error

Postby davewl » Sat Jan 26, 2008 11:15 am

A couple of users are reporting this error when using the webmail in Firefox.

I am unable to recreate it in my Firefox - those users are all on the latest iterations of Firefox.

Local client issue or something I've done wrong in configuring the webmail?

It started under our own amended template - but for the screenie I rolled back to the default extended template just in case.

This problem hasn't been reported before but it would appear as though part of the HTTP response, the header lines which are part of the protocol and shouldn't be displayed, are being shown. At first guess since this only effects only Firefox I would suspect some local issue, but it could be a combination of firefox and perhaps a locally installed AV product which is causing the HTTP responses to be corrupted somehow. I have tested our webmail with an in-house firefox installation and it seemed to work fine with out issue. Since you also were unable to recreate it, it may be possible that a ISP level proxy is causing issues with the site. Try asking them to switch to SSL to see if this will help.

OK - we've been digging around a bit while sorting out the skin for our webmail and the only issue we can find that might be linked to this and is also causing problems with Firefox users is that we seem to be getting an incorrect MIME type from somewhere for css

The MIME type for css is coming up as application/zip

However I'm utterly stumped as I've checked the MIME types in both Apache and IIS on my server and they're both configured correctly for text/css

I can't find any htaccess files that might be causing it.

Any ideas?

The webmail is on mail.shadowlounge.nu

This may indeed be an issue in our MIME type generation code, if you could let me know the exact extension of the file which is being mislabled I will pass this along and hopefully the fix should be simple.

It is just .css files that are playing up as far as we can see.

Target: http://mail.shadowlounge.nu/*****.css

I/O Error: Unknown mime type : application/zip
