Public SSL Cert not working.

Public SSL Cert not working.

Postby agh3 » Wed May 07, 2008 12:49 am

I just setup 2.62 and purchased a public SSL Certificate from DigiCert. I followed the directions on the website about creating a self signed cert and then using the CSR for getting the public cert. When I got the CRT from DigiCert, it added into the Certificates store and I changed all the services to use their SSL ports (https:443, SMTP:465, etc).

When I visit the site using https://mail.server.com (webmail is set to use port 443), it sits and chugs for a short time, then I get the Page Cannot be displayed.

I see the following error in the webmail log:
Tue, 06 May 2008 18:20:53 -> 99.142.22.87 -> Failed: Action=[Accept Connection], Details=[Port 443: Implicit SSL initialisation error or client closed connection unexpectedly.]

Anyone have suggestions on what to try to track this down?

Solved my own problem :D

Problem was that I hadn't kept the same CRT name as the private key pair file that was generated. I re-created a new self signed certificate, reissued the cert using the CSR with my SSL provider and then replaced the text inside the .crt file that was created. Now it all works.
